2 Years of Aurora...
Aurora Earth was brought to life on the 13th of September 2021. That's thousands of hours worth of memories created.
Over the years we have made lots of updates, lots of paths to discover, providing for all possible styles that people want to live. But this update will be the most game-changing one yet.
But first, to celebrate.
For all of the 13th September, you will be able to craft the anniversary crate. The steps may take some work, but it is sure worth while.
To make the crate, you will first need some other recipes, so here is your free recipe unlock as a gift. Here are the recipes you are going to need:
24 Karat Gold block, which can be crafted by putting 9 gold blocks in a crafting grid.
Piled Obsidian, which can be crafted by putting 9 obsidian in a crafting grid.
And finally with those you can then construct the anniversary crate, with the following recipe.
4 24k Gold Blocks, 4 Piled Obsidian and 1 diamond block.
And voila.
The anniversary crate contains some special items to celebrate the term, as well as some rare drop, which you may get none of, or may get multiple of. The rare items vary, and will be limited to this anniversary only.
To also note, you can only open 1 anniversary crate. You will not be refunded if you craft anymore than 1.
Now for the big news.
Entering Hardcore
It was considered and voted on by everyone to take on a "lifesteal" type of system, which would make it hardcore and up the stakes.
After some work, a unique system similar to lifesteal is now on aurora, with a mix of hardcore factions and lifesteal, clashed together.
Now on Aurora there is a lives system. Everybody starts off with 1 life and the max lives you can have at one time is 10. If you have 1 life and die, you will be death banned. The time of the deathban can vary per how you died (subject to change) but the standard being 24 hours. After 24 hours you will be resurrected. Maybe things have happened since you died?
There are multiple ways of gaining lives, but the most note worthy being crafting and killing players. If you kill a player, you will gain a life, whilst they lose a life. To craft a life you can use the recipe found at the bottom of this blog, however it will also be in your recipe book. You can also purchase a life with credits, which are solely earned from playtime. You can check that in-game via /credits.
There are also life fragments. There are currently a couple of ways to gain life fragments which you may figure out on your own terms, with the ways of doing so surely growing in time. 3 life fragments = 1 life.
Has one of your friends died with no lives? You have some to spare? You can give a life to a friend by reviving them with /revive.
You can access all of this information, including your lives, lives fragments, deathbans and reviving others by doing /lives.
In addition to this, mobs, swarms and blood moons have been tweaked very slightly to reflect the new hardcore scenery, however still staying true to having an extreme difficulty.
The server is more hardcore than ever, and we hope this will draw people to be more cautious with things, such as letting themselves die to thirst etc, and also putting the fear of life into people. Betrayals, backstabs and more making people look over their shoulders at even their closest comrades.
The recipe to the heart.
(1 netherite block, 1 diamond block, 1 gold block, 1 iron block, 4 poppy's and 1 golden apple)
Also importantly, there are 2 new rules, one being a rewrite of the original robbery rule. You should get familiar with these rules and all of the rules by doing /rules. Also the mob farm rule has changed, it is now automated so animals in crowded areas going over the max limit will be purged from existence by the watchers.
- Weapon jamming was tweaked.
- Fixed lava sound in nether
- Villagers were re-tweaked
- Jackhammers no longer allow efficiency
- Fixed planes coal consumption
- Changed boss spawn-rate
- Blood moons now have even more loot due to hardcore :)
Thank you for 2 years, and here is to more.
