Public Update #66
Audio
Now when playing the server, you must connect to /audio. It's a very easy and very fast process, and saves the server a lot of resources by doing this instead of implementing everything into the pack. The server has already been utilising /audio for a while, and will continue to do so with more ambient and modified sound effects and much more. This means audio will also produce some sound effects unheard by the game but instead on the web client, so make sure to have your volume on the web client audio at a good amount. (100% should be fine, as most sounds will be tweaked so they are not ear deafening anyway.
New Domain
The server now has an official domain! (finally)
AuroraSMP.cc
You can use this IP address to connect in-game. I highly recommend connecting with this ip address, for a much stable and responsive connection (google TTL if you don't believe that) as well as, why not.
There is also a chance the server may change to UK servers (currently they are in Germany) as 99% of the players live in the UK, so the ping will overall be better. During this time a new IP address will not be provided, it will be linked to aurorasmp.cc for a seamless transition.
With this domain, some things have changed such as the map link, the blog link and more to come.
Currently those are:
https://blog.aurorasmp.cc/ - Brings you to this aurora blog
http://map.aurorasmp.cc:28036/ - Takes you to the livemap
http://pack.aurorasmp.cc/ - Takes you to the modified misa pack we use
In-game commands such as /map, /blog, /pack also display these correctly.
Nicknames
/nick is now a publicly available command. Only available in white.
Skin Fix
Previously doing /as also displayed a "fix skins around you". This was removed to improve, whilst also improving the background mitigating anyway. It has been added back in-case you do still have issues with seeing other players skins from time to time.
Various other fixes and changes have been made as always, note worthy is the gold block. Took longer than it should have but it is no longer invisible in the inventory (sorry lives crafters)
Also I found some very interesting and possibly the best shaders that have actual lighting. Those can be found here: Shaders
Tips: make sure your shadow quality on shaders is 1.0x. I also don't necessarily recommend these for general play because it doesn't show invisible lights/lightbulbs, which furniture uses also. But it looks really good for screenshots and cinematic moments.
If you want to quickly swap between no shaders and shaders, something that is also unknown is that instead of turning shaders to "off" turn it to "(internal)" which will turn the shaders off but keep the shaders loaded and make it much faster to go between the two.
