Public Update #67 - Skyhook
Skyhook
Introducing
Skyhook
For the longest time, people have wondered about the fastest form of travel. Is it by land, by sea, by air?
Now, introducing Skyhook. Just like how you travel to your homepoints, skyhook lifts you by air and takes you to your destination. Skyhook now has a service dedicated to public and private spaces, the ability to travel to somewhere without sacrificing one of your homepoints.
This service is available to all. For the users of skyhook, it is very simple.
You can execute /skyhook to view the application, here you will find a list of accessible points.
These will be listed as a name and a price, as well as a status. If the point is public and accessible it will look clear and free. If the place is private and only available to people with the airspace permissions, it will be listed as private. Other statuses may also be displayed.
The price is the fixed price the user will pay to travel to the destination. Once the skyhook journey has ended and the user has arrived at the destination, the amount will be taken.
An average skyhook journey takes around 120 seconds (2 minutes). This can change from many factors such as weather, events and more. Skyhooks destination time will be displayed upon picking an area.
*A skyhook travel can pick you up from anywhere with its technology.
*Given that the area isn't jammed from pickup. More details can be given by operators of skyhook.
Skyhook is already available right now through /skyhook.
For those who want to create their own destination points and more:
Skyhook is a huge technological leap for Earth. Having already managing the homepoints, this new skyhook services offering is a huge development for businesses, countries and everything in between.
To setup and create your own destination, there are a lot of things to consider and take into account.
First of all is the type of travel. There is currently two modes of skyhook transportation.
The cheapest being landing/airstrips. Skyhook utilises sonic jets and mobilisers to travel. These operate similar to planes. This means you can create an airport/airstrip/runway for skyhook to safely drop off its traveller.
The requirements for this is: A flat runway, well lit and smooth for skyhook. This should be of good size. (Width recommended is 12 or above. Length recommended is 60 or above. You may contact skyhook services to look at other sizes or creations)
Also required is a traffic control tower. The size and quality of this tower will have many other factors for your skyhook service costs, so this will all be taken into account by skyhook services)
And lastly required is a drop off point. This can be however you interpret it or want it to be, it can be indoors or outdoors.
Anything else to develop your airport/strips quality can greatly effect your fees for the better. You can also keep on working on it other time to lower the costs, to bring your fees down.
The next mode of transportation is magnetic wormholes.
This being the more expensive option, and also smaller in size.
This consists of getting a device fitted into where you want your skyhook destination point to be.
This device is more pricey, and the costs and fees for this can vary and change throughout time from the use of technology.
These would be much greater for underground drop off points.
NEW: You can now buy a device directly through /credits.
So great, if you have picked your mode, you now have to consider other things.
The service of having your location connected to skyhook services is your first cost. This will be given to you at the time of talking to skyhook to get it set up.
On top of that base cost, you will have usage costs. The more skyhook is used to travel to your destination, will add charges to you. This is for the fuel costs, electricity costs and more.
Those together is where you must make your next decision. Your price. You will be given a rough estimate of costs to your location (given your airport/device spot). You can then charge people a price to be dropped off at the destination. This is a fixed price that the user will pay on /skyhook. You can decide to make a profit on this, you can decide to make a loss on it. It's all your decision. The money here will then be deducted from your overall costs and fees.
So for an example of a bill. This bill will be collapsed into one number.
Base Cost: Your fixed fee that you will always get, can vary depending on your airport/device location, and quality of the area etc.
Usage Costs: Costs from users using skyhook to travel to your destination.
Price Cost(?): The price of your skyhook travel on /skyhook, usually deducted from the numbers above.
If your price is set to $0 (Free for users to travel to your area.) this means you will technically be paying for their usage costs.
Upon making a destination and being apart of skyhook, you will be able to name and give an icon for your location on the /skyhook application. You can choose for it to be accessed by whoever you would like. Keep in mind the name, icon, status and price of this will be public to everyone on the application. So you may give your place code names if it is supposed to be hidden.
Skyhook is perfect for businesses, great for organisations, made for instant travel.
Public or Private places, you can come together as a team or as one to create a skyhook destination, at a cost which is dynamic and based on your commitment.
If you are interested in creating your own destination with skyhook, signal skyhook services on /signals. One of our highly trained operators will be in contact and talk through a nice deal with you.
Of course, lots of things added and changed throughout the weeks.
Reminder to connect through aurorasmp.cc on the minecraft server list.
This reminder will be deleted from this post next update, and the server ip will likely be changing soon so, do it.
