General Help

This is a post for general fixes and help, to be found all in one rather than scattered around.

This can be accessed any time through /help in-game, or help.aurorasmp.cc.

Aurora is pretty hands on with admins and staff, so any help regarding bugs or anything else can be handled by them. So feel free to do /helpop or /ticket create for help with anything at all.

Most if not all in-game commands that are useful can be found through /help.

You will only have to do these steps once, and you will have the best experience

If you are new, there are some requirements and things to do to run smoothly.
Firstly is OptiFine. The server uses its own resource packs for furniture, extra tools, ores and much more. Almost making it a mod pack. OptiFine is required for this, and more importantly OptiFine 1.19. There is no point in installing just OptiFine. There are actually a lot of fixes that I would have to list by using it standalone, so instead I recommend using Lunar Client. This will give you OptiFine and many other quality of life features (such as waypoints), whilst also applying those fixes as it is regularly updated. However, you don't have to use any of it on Lunar if you still want a vanilla-like gameplay.

Lunar Client is very helpful with a lot of things, and no support will be given to anyone not using it anymore, because any time there is an issue Lunar Client just fixes it.
For cracked users, message Steedy or an Admin, we can show you how to use offline accounts on lunar client

More recently there was a new way found that can increase your fps more significantly in areas with lots of models, furnitures, players with custom items etc.

To do this, here is the step by step

OPTIONS -> VIDEO SETTINGS -> PERFORMANCE -> SMART ANIMATIONS: ON

By turning it on, it will play animated stuff smarter (example, for when you are not looking at it) It seems to work very well increasing fps in areas.
Feel free to play around with any other settings, but this is more for area lag, such as being in the area of lots of models, ores etc.

Thanks to Baran for finding this.

On Aurora, we have also as a community come to like a certain resource pack. We have also modified it to be compatible with Aurora's Server Pack. You can find the download link to this by typing /pack in-game, or by visiting pack.aurorasmp.cc. By using the same one we all see the same things.

There may be incompatibilities if using any or vanilla resource packs with what you see in the world. We will not offer support if you are not using the aurora misa pack from the above link, as we collectively modify and make sure it works with the server and everyone else.

Also be sure to set in the video settings Smooth Lighting - Maximum and in Video Settings -> Quality -> Connected Textures - Fancy for the best visuals (with 0 performance impact)

If you want to use shaders in the most effective way, of course sometimes they can lag in dense areas (like nanda parbat or the black sapphire) to conveniently switch between shaders, you can set the shaders to "(internal)" instead of "OFF", which will turn the shaders off but load 100x faster between that and shaders.

Recently we also implemented the requirement of /audio. Some people have reported being disconnected from it sometimes, and the solution to this is based on how many tabs you have open. Your browser will try to save memory by putting it in the background. To fix it, try not to have too many tabs open, or separate it and keep the audio client open behind minecraft so that it doesn't unload itself.

Update: Brave has recently introduced a memory saving feature. With this update, you can also add sites to be set to always active, and not be set inactive causing audio to disconnect.

If you use Brave, here is how you can do that:

Settings > System > Performance - Turn memory saver off and Always keep these sites active, and add the aurora audio tab (while it is open)

This page will be updated with anything else in the future.
